Ans- The two superpowers i.e US and USSR have military alliances with the smaller countries because of the following reasons:

1)The smaller states were helpful for the super powers in gaining access to territory, from where the super powers could launch their troops.

2)The smaller states were helpful for the super powers in gaining access to territory , from where the super powers could launch their weapons and troops.

3)The super powers could gain access to locations from where they could spy in each other.

4)The smaller states together could help pay for military purposes.

5)They entered into military alliances with smaller countries to spread their ideologies to checkmate the others.

The first NAM summit was held in Belgrade in 1961. Following factors were responsible for this summit:

1) Cooperation among thess five countries.

2)Growing cold war tentions and its widening arenas.

3)The dramatic arenas of many newly decolonised countries of Africa into the international arena .By 1960 there were 16 new African members in the UN.

Ans- NIEO:-

*New International Economic Order constitutes a framework for eliminating the existing era of international economic system which is mostly catering to the needs and interests of the developed countries to the detriment of the under developed third world countries.

=> The United Nation Conference on Trade and Developement (UNCTAD) brought out a report in 1972 entitled Towards a New Trade Policy for Developement.

The report proposed a reform of the global trading system so as to :

1) Give LDCs control over their natural resources exploited by the developed Western countries.

2) Obtain access to Western markets so that the LDCs could sell their products and therefore make trade more beneficial for the poor er countries.

3) Reduse the cost of technology from Western countries .

4) provide the LDCs with a greater role in international economic institutions.
